Our
Story
'Street to Tweet'

The COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns initiated a sudden and dramatic digital transformation in society. The disruption or shift of communication, businesses and action from physical to digital was seen in all sectors, including the government. The impact was severe for communities from underprivileged socio-economic backgrounds in remote villages and areas with minimum to no-internet coverage. Hence, the idea of reaching government bodies through social media emerged.
A tweet was created from a community member's account, asking for assistance from government bodies and the relevant members of the government offices were tagged to get their attention. Other community members amplified the tweet by sharing, liking and commenting on the post. The concerned officials noticed the tweet, and relief was provided to the stranded community members.
